What is an Italian Ice?

Italian immigrants brought with them the technique
and recipes to make Sorbata (Italian Ice) to the
United States during the early 1900's and ever since
then it has been a long-time favorite in the areas that
they settled in.  Now people living in Northeast Louisiana
can enjoy the exact same  taste treat. Italian Ice is
nondairy, non-fat and no cholesterol!  The only ingredients
are fruit juice, water, sugar and pieces of real fruit.  It is not
shaved ice with flavoring added.  The smooth texture comes
from the 100+ year old process.
